About the course

The programmes is to develop highly competent and versatile professional economists through the provision of relevant academic and professional courses which are required in other to meet the development challenges of the Nigerian economy in the context of globalization. Specifically, the programme is designed to train highly competent personnel for academic career and groom middle and top management personnel in the areas of energy and petroleum, manufacturing, industry, banking and finance. The programme is also to provide the best possible qualitative and professional education and training in the area of economics, and produce graduates who are socially responsible, knowledgeable and skilled in the field. It is to equip business executives with up-to- date knowledge in economics as well as further develop their relevant professional skills and attitudes, besides exploring and expanding the frontiers of knowledge with the private, public sector and other institutions of learning through teaching, research and publication.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS



The criteria for admission into M.Sc. and MBA programme will be as follows:
Matriculation requirement, which must be 5 O’level credits including Mathematics and English.
Candidates with Second Class (Lower Division) Bachelor’s degree in the discipline (for the M.Sc.) and from any discipline (for the MBA) from an approved University, or the Postgraduate diploma with a CGPA of not lower than 3.0 on a 5-point scale from an accredited university.
Graduates of other disciplines are also free to apply, but will need credible references, and shall be exposed to core undergraduate courses.
