9th INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN LAW MOOT COURT COMPETITION
The Faculty of Law, Baze University in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red cross (ICRC) hosted the 2019 International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Moot Court Competitions. The four- day event took place from 8th - 11th October 2019 and three students each from ten Universities participated in the competition. At the Opening Ceremony, Prof. Tahir Mamman SAN, Vice Chancellor, Baze University Abuja gave the Opening Remarks while the Deputy Head of Delegation of the ICRC, Jean-François Queguiner, declared the Competition formerly open.
At the competition, students were expected to demonstrate a good knowledge of International Humanitarian Law (‘IHL’), Public International Law (‘PIL’), International Human Rights Law, Refugee Law, and International Criminal Law (‘ICL’) and finally apply their legal knowledge to the facts of a given case. Three students from Baze University participated in the Competition: Aisha Koki, Bilkisu Hassan and Joseph Kwahar. The University of Maiduguri and University of Uyo were the finalists, but the University of Uyo took the trophy.
