PETEX UK Donates Petroleum Engineering Software Worth £1.557 Million to Baze University
The department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering at Baze has announced that it has received a donation of Integrated Production Management software (IPM) suite from Petroleum Experts (Petex), UK Limited. Petex is a Petroleum Engineering company based in Edinburgh, UK.
The company is a global leader in the development of petroleum engineering software for dynamic simulation of oil and gas production systems from the reservoir to the surface production facilities. The educational license of the IPM software worth £1,557,928.68 but, Petex is providing the software free of charge to Baze University. According to the license agreement, the software is to be used only for teaching and research. The IPM suite which includes PROSPER, GAP, MBAL, PVTP, REVEAL and RESOLVE can be run together seamlessly, allowing the engineer to design complete oil and gas field models.
The models can include the reservoir tanks, all the wells and the surface gathering system. Petex will be renewing the license on a yearly basis on request by the University. The petroleum industry is the major contributor to Nigeria’s foreign earnings.
Baze University is strategically positioned to train future engineers who will graduate ready and confident to run the industry for the development of the country. This ambition requires having the right industry tools such as Petex IPM suite. The Petroleum and Engineering programme at Baze University is fully accredited by the National Universities Commission.
