Dr. Alonge is a specialist in microbial biotechnology, with an emphasis on bioremediation of contaminated soil and water. He obtained a doctorate degree in ecology (biology) & microbiology from the Russian State Agrarian University Moscow, in 2013. Dr. Alonge is a seasoned lecturer and researcher in his field, experienced in lecturing and mentoring students to achieve academic excellence; successful in carrying out various research on microbial degradation of petroleum hydrocarbon contamination. After completing his compulsory youth service in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in 2008, Dr. Alonge has gone on to lecture in a couple of universities in Nigeria and abroad, garnering valuable experience and contributing immensely to the development of science.Dr. Alonge is versatile, dynamic, results-driven; and a great communicator, who is fluent in both English and Russian languages.

Teaching Responsibilities

Unit Lecturer:

  • Deliver lectures on general biology, practical biology, cell & developmental biology, genetics, microbiology, environmental microbiology, etc. to B.Sc. honors students.
  • Prepare handouts, manuals & other educational materials for lectures.
  • Attend conferences, publication of articles and carry-out research.

Other Roles

  • Member of the departmental board.
  • Departmental examination officer
  • Student Academic Adviser (400 level)

Research Interest

  • Well I have a number of research ideas, my primary research interest is in the area of bioremediation of contaminated soil and water.Developing a biological preparation of a single/consortium of indigenous to Nigeria soils, hydrocarbon oxidizing microorganisms for the clean-up of oil contaminated soil and water.Optimizing the best conditions for the successful implementation; and completion of the bioremediation process in all regions and weather conditions of Nigeria.Develop special biological preparations; and optimal conditions to improve the microbial enhanced oil recovery (MEOR) process in the oil industry.
